🐾 Meet Ichabod Crane!🐾
This bundle of joy is stealing hearts with those soulful eyes and his playful antics, so SDC thought it was the perfect time for Ichabod to make his big debut!
Ichabod’s Story:
Sadly, life for me didn’t start out so great. I was thrown from a vehicle, but thankfully a really amazing human witnessed the incident and rescued me. My human friend had to give me so many baths I lost count, and I didn’t have much fur. I was in ruff shape for sure.
I consider myself a pretty lucky boy because such a wonderful human not only took me in but also showed me what the word love means. She also made me realize that I’m quite a dashingly handsome boy which will help me grow into my confidence as a shepherd mix. I’m learning that being a shepherd and having confidence is the true sign of a big boy! Oh and guess what? My fur is growing back nicely!
I was so honored when SDC chose me as their February Pup of the Month. It’s pretty appropriate being that February is the month of love because I am quite the ladies man. SDC volunteers wanted to know all about me so I got to do a Q&A interview. I am eager for the world to know more about who I am and what I am looking for my from new furever family.

We sat down with our handsome featured boy, Ichabod, to find out more about his puppy personality, his likes and dislikes, but we must warn you…..you’re about to get a heavy dose of cuteness overload with this Q&A session!

- Do you have any nicknames:
- I do, most call me I.C. for short.
- How old are you:
- 8 amazing months!
- Tell us what your most favorite food is:
- Oh boy, that’s an easy question. I have two favs, Peanut Butter and CHEESE, please!
- Do you like animal friends:
- You bet! I am quite the versatile boy, I get along with cats and dogs!
- Do you have any fears that you’d like to share:
- Yeah, I’m kind of scared of a lot of things, but I know my new family will be so impressed by how well I am picking up on how to be a confident boy with a little help from my human friends the volunteers at SDC!
- Inquiring minds want to know, what is your favorite big boy activity:
- Thank you for asking. Without a doubt, I love love love to carry my stuffies around with me wherever I go. Stuffies are life. Well, Ok, actually I don’t love to just one thing. If you want to know the truth I actually like a lot things the cool SDC volunteers have been introducing me to like balls, and blankies, and definitely jammies, for sure, but t-shirts, make me feel like a fancy boy! I never knew I could be a fancy boy!
- Where is your favorite place to sleep at night or take nappies:
- Definitely my crate with a nice fuzzy bed. It’s so cozy and makes me feel safe!
- We have to ask, I.C., are you a snoozy snorer:
- Well, maybe a little hehehehe, but I’ve been told it’s a cute snore just like me.
- Do you know what kind of dog you are:
- I do. I am an amazing, unique mix of German Shepherd Dog AND Super Mutt! It’s a part of what makes me a super special boy!
- Tell us about your name. Ichabod Crane is quite a unique name:
- Well I am a unique boy! Ichabod Crane is a character in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. It’s a cool name for a cool boy like me!
- Have you learned any commands and/or skills yet:
- Yes! Ok, so I know “sit”, “here” and “place”. I am pretty excited because I didn’t realize how smart I am so it’s very exciting! Oh and not to brag or anything, but I am mastering potty training, and my SDC friends tell me it’s because that’s what smart boys do!
- Describe to us who you see as your perfect family:
- Well if I can be honest, I am still working through my past traumas, so the perfect family for me would have to be parents with patience, and a quiet, peaceful home so I can continue to build my confidence. Also, no small children. I am still a baby so I am working on shedding my trauma shell and continue to work through my fears everyday, and I know the right parents who have patience and love will see I am the best boy ever. I promise that I will also do my best at all times and make them very proud. I know I can do it!
Wow! Isn’t he the most charming boy? You can see why Ichabod has stolen the hearts of our SDC volunteers. so when he asked us for a photo shoot how could we say no to this special boy. Here are some photos that Ichabod wanted to share with you:
