We are proud to RE-Introduce Miss Patty! She got so excited that her happy vibes shot out into the world and caught the attention of an amazing foster. She busted out of board and train, and headed to her new foster home. But that’s not the last stop on her journey! She’s ready for her very own FUR-EVER Home!
So, without further ado, meet the wise and beautiful Patty!

SDC: Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you ended up at SDC?
Patty: I am from Houston, and there are a ton of stray dogs here. I was one of them. I was hit by a car and somehow made my way to the side of the road. Some nice people found me and took me to a vet who did some X-Rays. I must have been on that road for several days because my injuries had already started to heal. Thankfully they were healing well enough that the vet didn’t think I needed surgery and now you can barely tell I ever had an injury. The vet and my finders looked for a rescue for me and that’s how I made my way to SDC.
SDC: A beautiful name for a beautiful girl! Tell us how you got your name.
Patty: Oh, that’s an easy one! I was found on Saint Patrick’s day, so they named me Patty!
SDC: What are you looking for in your forever home? Describe your perfect family.
Patty: Let’s see… I do love people! I’d love a big family with big and small people, all ages and sizes. People? I love them all! And I would love a home with people who have the same kind of energy as me – not too active but not too “couch potato” either. I like to run around and take walks and have fun, but I also enjoy just hanging out for a binge watching session or a good moving!

SDC: In your perfect home, would you like there to be other dogs, cats, both?
Patty: I like other dogs but I need to meet them first. I get really excited with dogs and can sometimes have more energy than they might like. I’ve been called “bossy”, but I’m not. I just try so hard to get them to like me that sometimes they might take it that way. A little time and good intro’s and I’m all good though! I really do like dogs…my size dogs! But my trainer guy said “proper introductions” are super important, and I stand by that for sure! Cats and small critters, though? Those are a big no for me.
SDC: So tell us, what kinds of things does a pretty girl like you enjoy most?
Patty: This one’s a little hard. SDC has taken amazing care of me, but I’ve been here for a really long time! Since March of 2022, coming on three years now. I’ve had a few AMAZING foster homes, and am so happy to be in my new foster home! But I’ve been in boarding a lot too. Moving around it’s hard to figure out what my most favorite things are. But I do have some things I like a lot! In boarding I got to learn a TON of things! I’d say that I really like structure. I’ve been told that I have impeccable manners! I get that from all the amazing training I’ve gotten in boarding. I love that guy who trains me at the boarding place! He taught me so many things! I guess you could say learning is one of my favorite things. In my foster homes, attention was THE BEST! I love to get pets from all the people. I’m not big on toys (yet!) but I’m learning. I bet the right people could help me love those too! I will say that I do like a good game of fetch from time to time!

SDC: How old are you?
Patty: Well, I’m not sure honestly. Like I said, I’ve been with SDC for coming on 3 years now. The vet said I was probably around 3-5 when I was found so I’m about 6-9 now. So I guess you’d say I’m a senior girl, but I don’t feel like a senior girl! I can still play and romp around with the best of them. But, you know one of the best things about being an older girl? I know when to be calm and collected too! I’d say I’m the best age.

SDC: Where’s your favorite place to sleep at night or nap during the day?
Patty: I really enjoy relaxing in my own space so a good sized kennel just for me to hang out in to rest would be great. I also love to sunbathe! In one of my foster homes they had this doggy door thing. I loved to just sit outside in the sun right outside that doggie door. That was the best! And since I have such good manners, you won’t have to worry about me tearing anything up like those young pups do if you have to leave me alone for work or whatever an errand is!
SDC: Tell us some unique things about yourself. What would make you stand out in a crowd of pups?
Patty: Well, like I said before, and not to brag, but… I have impeccable manners! I don’t “counter surf” (not sure what that is, but I don’t do it!), I don’t get on the furniture, I hang out quietly in my kennel to rest! I’m just an all around good girl! Or so I’ve been told, haha. I’ve seen a lot of dogs since I’ve spent a lot of time in boarding with my trainer, and I have to say that my good manners definitely stood out in that crowd.

SDC: You’ve mentioned that you spent some time in board and train. So tell us, what commands or skills do you know?
Patty: Well, I know sit, heal, stay, and here. I may be a little rusty on a couple of my commands since I’ve moved around a lot, but I’m a quick study and will pick them right back up with good leadership! I’m a very smart girl, if I do say so myself. I’ll tell ya what my trainer always says… “Training is only as good as the follow up that comes after!”. But I know my perfect furever family will be excited to get me right into shape, and since I naturally have a good-girl-spirit, it’ll be super easy! I’m so very ready to meet them!
